# What is Yahoo Pipes?

“Pipes is a free online service that lets you remix popular feed types and create data mashups using a visual editor. You can use Pipes to run your own web projects, or publish and share your own web services without ever having to write a line of code.” – *taken from* [http://pipes.yahoo.com/docs/overview](http://pipes.yahoo.com/docs/overview)

I saw this on the web for librarians [(Web4Lib list)](http://lists.webjunction.org/web4lib/) Feb. 11, 2007, but I haven’t tried building anything with it yet. The Librarians on the list seemed to quickly figure out the tools and make some mashups. Someone mentioned that it’s still in beta.

- [Article mentioning Pipes](http://www.seochat.com/c/a/Search-Engine-Optimization-Help/Dont-Let-Your-Visitors-Get-Lost-in-the-Avalanche/) It’s aimed at the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) crowd.

Please post any pipes you make. The Pipes site lists a bunch already.
