# Mac OS Applications folder slow to load / populate

As mentioned in [https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2730568?start=0&tstart=0](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2730568?start=0&tstart=0 "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2730568?start=0&tstart=0"), either deleted or rename the .DS\_Store file in Applications.

`mv /Applications/.DS_Store /Applications/.DSStoreold`

The app list should populate much faster on the next folder browse.
