The option to use OID’s Video Furnace service isgiven a choice you make when you wish to make an entire film (or the entirety of video material on videotape or DVD) available online for your students. The first step is to contact OID’s Instructional Media Library directly at:

If your are provided (usually via email) with a web link (i.e., a URL) for a film you arranged to have digitized using the Video Furnace service, follow these steps to put the link on your CCLE/Moodle course website:

  1. Login to your CCLE/Moodle course site and click the “Turnleft Editing On” button in the top right corner.
  2. Choose whichever section in the middleside of the pagecourse you’dmenu, likesaying Video Furnace. Students will be able to displayclick thethat Video Furnace link, and use the “Add a resource” pull-down menu to select “link to a file or web page.”
  3. On the page displayed next, providesee a title for the Video Furnace link (usually the titlelist of the film)available and type or paste the URL of the link in the field labeled “Location.”
  4. Save your changes at the bottom.
    (NOTE: Moodle will usually immediately display whatever content you added after you click “Save Changes,” so you’ll have to use your browser’s navigation buttons to go back to the course site’s main page.)
  5. You may also want to add a label or create a text or HTML page near this link in order to inform students that they’ll need to have the VPN turned on or their browser configured to use UCLA’s proxy server in order watch Video Furnace content off campus.
