The UsabilityUX Assessment Committee (UAC)Team is charged by the UCLA Library CabinetDigital withInitiatives establishing& Information Technology leadership to improve the user experience of all library digital interfaces by

  • Adopting an improved and managingsystematic a sustainable usabilityUX process on new projects/products
  • Auditing and environmentremediating withinlegacy applications
  • Maintain that capability by moving from Stage 3 to Stage 4 in the UCLAmaturity Library.model

Usability Lab

The UCLA Library conducts some usability studies in a Usability Lab located on the 3rd floor of Powell. The lab is currently only for library staff use, but it is possible to contact Sharon Shafer (sshafer@library.ucla.edu) to examine the lab and inquire about using it on a case by case basis for non library staff use.

We use Zoom and are currently evaluating HotJar.

HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite

Physical Space

The usability lab consists of one pc station and an additional conference table with another pc and projector.

Directions to LIT Usabililty and Assessment Lab

The Usability and Assessment Lab is located on the 3rd floor of the east side of the building. It is located in a library staff only area and you must ride the elevator for access. Contact sshafer@library.ucla.edu to schedule access to the lab.
