Why would ISIS return a different name for a student than the class roster shows?

If a student works at UCLA, and their payroll record shows a different firstname, middlename, etc. and the employee status for this record is Not Separated, (meaning status including Active, Inactive, Leave With Pay, Leave Without Pay except Separated,) ISIS prioritizes data in payroll record from QDB over student record from SRDB. The solution is to update the payroll record through the department personnel who is responsible for payroll data input. Once data is changed in the payroll record, ISIS will return desired name information starting from 6:30 am the next day.

After the Enterprise Directory rolled out in production on November 2006, ISIS switched it’sits backend to ED andwhich started to pullpulls a person’s name information frombased ED.on Sincea differenct logic. This ED implements a different name resolution logic which favors the name recorded in student system when different names are found in both student and payroll system for the same UID, if the issueperson aboveis shoulda current student with UCLA. Therefore ISIS no longer returns the name in payroll system as long as the person is a current student. The only case that payroll name is returned instead of student record name is that the person is a current UCLA employee but not bea studentscurrent shouldUCLA not be having the issue above anymore.student.

Note: If the name selected is found with anyAPP_USAGE_STATUS of<> ‘A’, an error message will be logged but the fourname systems:still student,goes payroll,in UniversityED.

b. andElse, if a person currently has employee affiliation (meaning UID sytems.in payroll system with a emp_status<>S), select the name in the order below:
1. PP0 name
2. SR0 name
3. SI0 name
4. UNX name

Note: If the name selected is found with APP_USAGE_STATUS <> ‘A’, an error message will be logged but the name still goes in ED.

c. Else, meaning a person does not likehave either student of employee affiliation, go with the name,same he/she can file a name change with anyorder of thestep four sytems. As soon as a new name came into one of these sytems, ED will have it in about 30 minutes for ISIS to return.a.
